Georgia is known for many great people and places. It is a place with monuments of leaders Martin Luther King, Jr. and James Oglethorpe, beautiful vistas like the Blue Ridge Parkway or historic cities like Savannah, Athens, or Atlanta. With so many choices, it is no wonder that

  1. The Atlanta Botanical Gardens- Whether gardening is a passion or merely a pleasurable pastime, the Gardens are a "must see" attraction. While there, be sure to visit the assorted stylized gardens with exotic plants from all over the world.


  2. The Atlanta Cyclorama- History buffs of all ages will be fascinated by the 1880 painting and diorama that depict the 1864 Battle of Atlanta. The revolving theatre and accompanying narration gives one a better understanding of the Civil War's affect on Atlanta.


  3. Fox Theatre- This beautiful theatre built in 1929 is one of the most elegantly designed and decorated theatres in the world. It seats 4,000 and is home to America's second largest theater organ. Performances include, but are not limited to, Atlanta Ballet, concerts, theatrical performances, Broadway musicals, and a summer films festival.


  4. Georgia Aquarium-With 8,000 gallons of water, the Georgia Aquarium is the world's largest aquarium There are sharks, beluga whales, penguins, eels, and many other sea animals from all around the globe.


  5. Stone Mountain-No visit to Atlanta would be complete without a day spent at Stone Mountain Park. The 3,200 acre park is home to the world's largest granite monolith. While there take time to visit the Civil War Museum, the Auto and Music Museum, and the antebellum plantation. Other activities include a train ride, paddle boats, and a river boat ride.

  8. Fernbank Museum of Natural History and Science Center- With its myriad of things to see and do be sure to plan for entire day's time. There is an assortment of exhibits, IMAX theatre, an observatory, a planetarium, and a science library as well as many hands on displays.


  9. Six Flags over Georgia- From roller coasters to water rides and live entertainment to games and concessions this amusement park has for children of all ages. The 100-acre park is open all summer and on weekend during the spring and fall.


  10. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site(s) - Take a guided tour of the places that played a key role in King's march for civil rights. Historic locations include the Freedom Hall Complex, the Chapel of All Faiths, the King Library and his boyhood home.
